<p>Preparing for the Objective Structured Clinical Examination (OSCE) while balancing nursing shifts, family responsibilities, and personal commitments can feel overwhelming. The good news is that smart strategies can help you study more effectively without burning out. Here are five practical hacks designed to fit into the busy lifestyle of nurses.</p>

<figure class="wp-block-image size-large"><img fetchpriority="high" decoding="async" width="1024" height="803" src="https://aurnpathway.com.au/wp-content/uploads/2026/03/mar_01-1024x803.png" alt="" class="wp-image-17138" srcset="https://aurnpathway.com.au/wp-content/uploads/2026/03/mar_01-1024x803.png 1024w, https://aurnpathway.com.au/wp-content/uploads/2026/03/mar_01-300x235.png 300w, https://aurnpathway.com.au/wp-content/uploads/2026/03/mar_01-768x602.png 768w, https://aurnpathway.com.au/wp-content/uploads/2026/03/mar_01-1536x1204.png 1536w, https://aurnpathway.com.au/wp-content/uploads/2026/03/mar_01-600x470.png 600w, https://aurnpathway.com.au/wp-content/uploads/2026/03/mar_01.png 1600w" sizes="(max-width: 1024px) 100vw, 1024px" /></figure>

<div style="height:20px" aria-hidden="true" class="wp-block-spacer"></div>

<h2 class="wp-block-heading">1. Flashcards on the Go</h2>

<p>Flashcards encourage active recall, one of the most effective ways to strengthen memory. Keep a small set in your pocket or use digital apps to review clinical scenarios, drug names, or patient communication phrases during short breaks or commutes.</p>

<figure class="wp-block-image size-large"><img decoding="async" width="1024" height="494" src="https://aurnpathway.com.au/wp-content/uploads/2026/03/mar_02-1024x494.png" alt="" class="wp-image-17140" srcset="https://aurnpathway.com.au/wp-content/uploads/2026/03/mar_02-1024x494.png 1024w, https://aurnpathway.com.au/wp-content/uploads/2026/03/mar_02-300x145.png 300w, https://aurnpathway.com.au/wp-content/uploads/2026/03/mar_02-768x371.png 768w, https://aurnpathway.com.au/wp-content/uploads/2026/03/mar_02-1536x741.png 1536w, https://aurnpathway.com.au/wp-content/uploads/2026/03/mar_02-600x290.png 600w, https://aurnpathway.com.au/wp-content/uploads/2026/03/mar_02.png 1600w" sizes="(max-width: 1024px) 100vw, 1024px" /></figure>

<p><em>Pro tip: Focus on high‐yield topics like common OSCE stations and patient safety protocols.</em></p>

<div style="height:20px" aria-hidden="true" class="wp-block-spacer"></div>

<h2 class="wp-block-heading">2. Group Study Sessions</h2>

<p>Studying with peers keeps you motivated and accountable. Group sessions allow candidates to role‐play OSCE stations, practice communication skills, and quiz each other on clinical reasoning.</p>

<figure class="wp-block-image size-large"><img decoding="async" width="1024" height="683" src="https://aurnpathway.com.au/wp-content/uploads/2026/03/mar_03-1024x683.png" alt="" class="wp-image-17141" srcset="https://aurnpathway.com.au/wp-content/uploads/2026/03/mar_03-1024x683.png 1024w, https://aurnpathway.com.au/wp-content/uploads/2026/03/mar_03-300x200.png 300w, https://aurnpathway.com.au/wp-content/uploads/2026/03/mar_03-768x512.png 768w, https://aurnpathway.com.au/wp-content/uploads/2026/03/mar_03-1536x1024.png 1536w, https://aurnpathway.com.au/wp-content/uploads/2026/03/mar_03-600x400.png 600w, https://aurnpathway.com.au/wp-content/uploads/2026/03/mar_03.png 1600w" sizes="(max-width: 1024px) 100vw, 1024px" /></figure>

<p><em>Why it works: Explaining a concept to others reinforces your own understanding, while hearing different approaches broadens your perspective.</em></p>

<div style="height:20px" aria-hidden="true" class="wp-block-spacer"></div>

<h2 class="wp-block-heading">3. Mock Exams Under Timed Conditions</h2>

<p>Simulating exam conditions is one of the best ways to reduce anxiety. Set a timer, create practice stations, and run through scenarios as if it were the real OSCE.</p>

<figure class="wp-block-image size-large"><img loading="lazy" decoding="async" width="1024" height="768" src="https://aurnpathway.com.au/wp-content/uploads/2026/03/mar_04-1024x768.png" alt="" class="wp-image-17142" srcset="https://aurnpathway.com.au/wp-content/uploads/2026/03/mar_04-1024x768.png 1024w, https://aurnpathway.com.au/wp-content/uploads/2026/03/mar_04-300x225.png 300w, https://aurnpathway.com.au/wp-content/uploads/2026/03/mar_04-768x576.png 768w, https://aurnpathway.com.au/wp-content/uploads/2026/03/mar_04-1536x1152.png 1536w, https://aurnpathway.com.au/wp-content/uploads/2026/03/mar_04-600x450.png 600w, https://aurnpathway.com.au/wp-content/uploads/2026/03/mar_04.png 1600w" sizes="(max-width: 1024px) 100vw, 1024px" /></figure>

<p><em>Benefit: You’ll train your brain to perform under pressure, making exam day feel familiar instead of intimidating.</em></p>

<div style="height:20px" aria-hidden="true" class="wp-block-spacer"></div>

<h2 class="wp-block-heading">4. Chunk Your Study Time</h2>

<p>Avoid marathon study sessions. Instead, use the Pomodoro technique — study in 25–30 minute blocks with short breaks. After four cycles, take a longer rest.</p>

<figure class="wp-block-image size-large"><img loading="lazy" decoding="async" width="1024" height="576" src="https://aurnpathway.com.au/wp-content/uploads/2026/03/mar_05-1024x576.png" alt="" class="wp-image-17143" srcset="https://aurnpathway.com.au/wp-content/uploads/2026/03/mar_05-1024x576.png 1024w, https://aurnpathway.com.au/wp-content/uploads/2026/03/mar_05-300x169.png 300w, https://aurnpathway.com.au/wp-content/uploads/2026/03/mar_05-768x432.png 768w, https://aurnpathway.com.au/wp-content/uploads/2026/03/mar_05-1536x864.png 1536w, https://aurnpathway.com.au/wp-content/uploads/2026/03/mar_05-600x338.png 600w, https://aurnpathway.com.au/wp-content/uploads/2026/03/mar_05.png 1600w" sizes="(max-width: 1024px) 100vw, 1024px" /></figure>

<p><em>Result: Improved focus, better retention, and less fatigue.</em></p>

<div style="height:20px" aria-hidden="true" class="wp-block-spacer"></div>

<h2 class="wp-block-heading">5. Leverage Online Resources</h2>

<p>Busy nurses need flexibility. Online platforms provide structured modules, recorded sessions, and practice materials that can be accessed anytime, anywhere. This ensures you can fit study into your schedule without sacrificing quality.</p>

<figure class="wp-block-image size-large"><img loading="lazy" decoding="async" width="1024" height="576" src="https://aurnpathway.com.au/wp-content/uploads/2026/03/mar_06-1024x576.png" alt="" class="wp-image-17144" srcset="https://aurnpathway.com.au/wp-content/uploads/2026/03/mar_06-1024x576.png 1024w, https://aurnpathway.com.au/wp-content/uploads/2026/03/mar_06-300x169.png 300w, https://aurnpathway.com.au/wp-content/uploads/2026/03/mar_06-768x432.png 768w, https://aurnpathway.com.au/wp-content/uploads/2026/03/mar_06-1536x864.png 1536w, https://aurnpathway.com.au/wp-content/uploads/2026/03/mar_06-600x338.png 600w, https://aurnpathway.com.au/wp-content/uploads/2026/03/mar_06.png 1600w" sizes="(max-width: 1024px) 100vw, 1024px" /></figure>

<p><em>Example: Reviewing recorded OSCE webinars after a night shift or accessing practice checklists during a weekend break.</em></p>

<div style="height:10px" aria-hidden="true" class="wp-block-spacer"></div>

<p>Success in the <strong>OSCE</strong> isn’t about endless hours of study — it’s about smart strategies that fit into your busy life. By combining flashcards, group learning, mock exams, time‐chunking, and online resources, you’ll build confidence and efficiency.</p>

<div style="height:25px" aria-hidden="true" class="wp-block-spacer"></div>

<h2 class="wp-block-heading">Ready to put these hacks into action?</h2>

<p>For internationally qualified nurses and midwives (IQNMs), the Outcomes‐Based Assessment (OBA)<br>pathway is the gateway to registration in Australia. One of the most important steps is the Portfolio<br>stage, where your identity, qualifications, and practice history are verified. Preparing correctly can<br>save you weeks of delays.</p>

<div style="height:25px" aria-hidden="true" class="wp-block-spacer"></div>

<h2 class="wp-block-heading">1. Completing the Self‐check</h2>

<p>Every IQNM must begin with the <a href="https://www.nursingmidwiferyboard.gov.au/Accreditation/IQNM/Self-check-and-Portfolio.aspx">Self‐check</a>. You’ll enter your qualification details, and AHPRA will assign you to one of three streams:</p>

<ul class="wp-block-list">
<li>Stream A: Substantially equivalent qualifications.</li>

<li>Stream B: Relevant but not equivalent qualifications.</li>

<li>Stream C: Qualifications not equivalent or relevant.</li>
</ul>

<p>Only Streams A and B (and those requiring qualification assessment) can proceed directly to registration steps. Stream C candidates must upgrade their qualification.</p>

<figure class="wp-block-image size-large"><img loading="lazy" decoding="async" width="1024" height="703" src="https://aurnpathway.com.au/wp-content/uploads/2026/02/feb2026_01-1024x703.png" alt="" class="wp-image-16829" srcset="https://aurnpathway.com.au/wp-content/uploads/2026/02/feb2026_01-1024x703.png 1024w, https://aurnpathway.com.au/wp-content/uploads/2026/02/feb2026_01-300x206.png 300w, https://aurnpathway.com.au/wp-content/uploads/2026/02/feb2026_01-768x527.png 768w, https://aurnpathway.com.au/wp-content/uploads/2026/02/feb2026_01-600x412.png 600w, https://aurnpathway.com.au/wp-content/uploads/2026/02/feb2026_01.png 1369w" sizes="(max-width: 1024px) 100vw, 1024px" /></figure>

<div style="height:25px" aria-hidden="true" class="wp-block-spacer"></div>

<h2 class="wp-block-heading">2. Steps After the Self‐check</h2>

<p>Depending on your stream:</p>

<ul class="wp-block-list">
<li>Stream A: Pay the assessment fee and complete Orientation Part 1.</li>

<li>Stream B: Pay the fee, complete Orientation Part 1, then proceed to Portfolio, MCQ exam, and OSCE.</li>

<li>Stream C: Upgrade your qualification before continuing.</li>
</ul>

<figure class="wp-block-image size-large"><img loading="lazy" decoding="async" width="1024" height="536" src="https://aurnpathway.com.au/wp-content/uploads/2026/02/feb2026_02-1024x536.png" alt="" class="wp-image-16830" srcset="https://aurnpathway.com.au/wp-content/uploads/2026/02/feb2026_02-1024x536.png 1024w, https://aurnpathway.com.au/wp-content/uploads/2026/02/feb2026_02-300x157.png 300w, https://aurnpathway.com.au/wp-content/uploads/2026/02/feb2026_02-768x402.png 768w, https://aurnpathway.com.au/wp-content/uploads/2026/02/feb2026_02-1536x804.png 1536w, https://aurnpathway.com.au/wp-content/uploads/2026/02/feb2026_02-600x314.png 600w, https://aurnpathway.com.au/wp-content/uploads/2026/02/feb2026_02.png 1599w" sizes="(max-width: 1024px) 100vw, 1024px" /></figure>

<div style="height:20px" aria-hidden="true" class="wp-block-spacer"></div>

<h2 class="wp-block-heading">4. The Portfolio Stage</h2>

<p>At this stage, AHPRA checks the information you provided during Self‐check. You must submit:</p>

<ul class="wp-block-list">
<li>Proof of identity documents (passport, birth certificate, national ID, plus secondary ID like driver’s license).</li>

<li>Qualification documents (degree certificates, transcripts).</li>

<li>Practice evidence (employment certificates, references).</li>

<li>Documents must be certified in person.</li>

<li>Each single‐page document must include:</li>

<li>The statement: “I have sighted the original document and certify this to be a true copy of the original”</li>

<li>Date of certification</li>

<li>Authorised officer’s signature</li>

<li>Authorised officer’s name</li>

<li>Contact phone number</li>

<li>Occupation/profession (and registration number if applicable)</li>

<p>Documentation remains the backbone of every internationally qualified nurse’s (IQNM) pathway to Australia. Each license, certificate and record is more than paperwork — it is evidence of competence, trust and alignment with the standards set by regulators such as the Australian Health Practitioner Regulation Agency (AHPRA). When maintained efficiently, documentation becomes a living archive that not only supports registration but also reflects a nurse’s commitment to safe and professional practice.</p>

<figure class="wp-block-image size-large"><img loading="lazy" decoding="async" width="1024" height="602" src="https://aurnpathway.com.au/wp-content/uploads/2026/01/item_01-1024x602.png" alt="" class="wp-image-16622" srcset="https://aurnpathway.com.au/wp-content/uploads/2026/01/item_01-1024x602.png 1024w, https://aurnpathway.com.au/wp-content/uploads/2026/01/item_01-300x176.png 300w, https://aurnpathway.com.au/wp-content/uploads/2026/01/item_01-768x451.png 768w, https://aurnpathway.com.au/wp-content/uploads/2026/01/item_01-1536x902.png 1536w, https://aurnpathway.com.au/wp-content/uploads/2026/01/item_01-600x353.png 600w, https://aurnpathway.com.au/wp-content/uploads/2026/01/item_01.png 1600w" sizes="(max-width: 1024px) 100vw, 1024px" /></figure>

<div style="height:10px" aria-hidden="true" class="wp-block-spacer"></div>

<p>The process of preparing documents is never static. Renewals, updates and verifications are part of the ongoing rhythm of a nurse’s career. A portfolio that is carefully maintained signals reliability and readiness, while lapses or outdated records can delay progress. In this way, documentation bridges international experience with Australian expectations, translating years of service abroad into recognition within a new healthcare environment.</p>

<figure class="wp-block-image size-large"><img loading="lazy" decoding="async" width="1024" height="683" src="https://aurnpathway.com.au/wp-content/uploads/2026/01/item_02-1024x683.png" alt="" class="wp-image-16624" srcset="https://aurnpathway.com.au/wp-content/uploads/2026/01/item_02-1024x683.png 1024w, https://aurnpathway.com.au/wp-content/uploads/2026/01/item_02-300x200.png 300w, https://aurnpathway.com.au/wp-content/uploads/2026/01/item_02-768x512.png 768w, https://aurnpathway.com.au/wp-content/uploads/2026/01/item_02-1536x1024.png 1536w, https://aurnpathway.com.au/wp-content/uploads/2026/01/item_02-600x400.png 600w, https://aurnpathway.com.au/wp-content/uploads/2026/01/item_02.png 1600w" sizes="(max-width: 1024px) 100vw, 1024px" /></figure>

<div style="height:10px" aria-hidden="true" class="wp-block-spacer"></div>

<p>Within Australia, AHPRA’s framework places strong emphasis on the accuracy and validity of these records. This is not about creating barriers but about ensuring that every nurse entering the system is prepared to deliver safe, competent care. For IQNMs, documentation is therefore both a professional responsibility and a safeguard for patients.</p>

<figure class="wp-block-image size-full"><img loading="lazy" decoding="async" width="526" height="240" src="https://aurnpathway.com.au/wp-content/uploads/2026/01/item_03.png" alt="" class="wp-image-16625" srcset="https://aurnpathway.com.au/wp-content/uploads/2026/01/item_03.png 526w, https://aurnpathway.com.au/wp-content/uploads/2026/01/item_03-300x137.png 300w" sizes="(max-width: 526px) 100vw, 526px" /></figure>

<div style="height:10px" aria-hidden="true" class="wp-block-spacer"></div>

<p>This is where the role of a Review Centre becomes vital. Beyond guiding nurses through exam preparation, the best RCs are also the people you can turn to for help with documentation — clarifying requirements, ensuring accuracy and offering support when the process feels overwhelming.</p>

<figure class="wp-block-image size-large"><img loading="lazy" decoding="async" width="1024" height="802" src="https://aurnpathway.com.au/wp-content/uploads/2026/01/item_04-1024x802.png" alt="" class="wp-image-16626" srcset="https://aurnpathway.com.au/wp-content/uploads/2026/01/item_04-1024x802.png 1024w, https://aurnpathway.com.au/wp-content/uploads/2026/01/item_04-300x235.png 300w, https://aurnpathway.com.au/wp-content/uploads/2026/01/item_04-768x602.png 768w, https://aurnpathway.com.au/wp-content/uploads/2026/01/item_04-1536x1204.png 1536w, https://aurnpathway.com.au/wp-content/uploads/2026/01/item_04-600x470.png 600w, https://aurnpathway.com.au/wp-content/uploads/2026/01/item_04.png 1599w" sizes="(max-width: 1024px) 100vw, 1024px" /></figure>

<h3 class="wp-block-heading">A Practical Guide for Internationally Qualified Nurses</h3>

<figure class="wp-block-image size-large"><img loading="lazy" decoding="async" width="1024" height="466" src="https://aurnpathway.com.au/wp-content/uploads/2025/09/sept-item1-1024x466.png" alt="" class="wp-image-14495" srcset="https://aurnpathway.com.au/wp-content/uploads/2025/09/sept-item1-1024x466.png 1024w, https://aurnpathway.com.au/wp-content/uploads/2025/09/sept-item1-300x137.png 300w, https://aurnpathway.com.au/wp-content/uploads/2025/09/sept-item1-768x349.png 768w, https://aurnpathway.com.au/wp-content/uploads/2025/09/sept-item1-1536x699.png 1536w, https://aurnpathway.com.au/wp-content/uploads/2025/09/sept-item1-600x273.png 600w, https://aurnpathway.com.au/wp-content/uploads/2025/09/sept-item1.png 1600w" sizes="(max-width: 1024px) 100vw, 1024px" /></figure>

<p>You’ve made it through the exams, the paperwork, and the waiting. You’re now officially registered with AHPRA and ready to begin your nursing career in Australia.</p>

<p><br>Now comes the next challenge: your first job interview.<br></p>

<p>For many internationally qualified nurses, this part can feel unfamiliar. You know how to care for patients, but how do you communicate that in an interview setting? What do Australian employers expect? And how do you make sure your experience translates well in a new healthcare system?</p>

<p><br>Let’s walk through it together.</p>

<hr class="wp-block-separator has-alpha-channel-opacity"/>

<div style="height:20px" aria-hidden="true" class="wp-block-spacer"></div>

<h2 class="wp-block-heading">Understand the Role You’re Applying For</h2>

<p>Start by reviewing the job description thoroughly. Whether it’s in aged care, acute care, mental health, or community nursing, each role comes with its own expectations and pace.</p>

<p><br>Look closely at the selection criteria. These aren’t just formalities—they’re the employer’s way of telling you what matters most. Think about how your own experience aligns with each point, and prepare examples that show you’re ready to step into the role.</p>

<div style="height:20px" aria-hidden="true" class="wp-block-spacer"></div>

<h2 class="wp-block-heading">Know What Employers Value</h2>

<p>Australian healthcare settings place a strong emphasis on communication, teamwork, and cultural safety. Of course, clinical skills matter—but so does how you interact with patients, families, and colleagues.</p>

<p>Expect questions that explore:</p>

<ul class="wp-block-list">
<li>How you manage your time and workload</li>

<li>How you respond to stressful situations</li>

<li>How you communicate with patients from diverse backgrounds</li>

<li>How you understand and apply ethical standards in practice</li>
</ul>

<p>It’s not just about what you know—it’s about how you show up.</p>

<div style="height:20px" aria-hidden="true" class="wp-block-spacer"></div>

<h2 class="wp-block-heading">Practice Common Interview Questions</h2>

<p>Here are a few questions you’re likely to hear, along with tips on how to approach them:</p>

<h4 class="wp-block-heading">Tell us about yourself</h4>

<p>Keep it focused on your nursing journey. Share where you trained, your experience overseas, and why you chose to work in Australia.</p>

<p></p>

<h4 class="wp-block-heading">Describe a time you handled a difficult patient</h4>

<p>Use the STAR method—describe the Situation, Task, Action, and Result. Be honest, and reflect on what you learned.</p>

<p></p>

<h4 class="wp-block-heading">How do you ensure safe medication administration</h4>

<p>Talk about the five rights, your checking process, and how you document everything clearly.</p>

<p></p>

<h4 class="wp-block-heading">What does cultural safety mean to you</h4>

<p>Show that you understand the importance of respecting all backgrounds, especially Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander communities.</p>

<div style="height:50px" aria-hidden="true" class="wp-block-spacer"></div>

<h2 class="wp-block-heading">Prepare Your Documents</h2>

<p>Have your paperwork ready—both printed and digital copies. This includes:</p>

<ul class="wp-block-list">
<li>Your AHPRA registration</li>

<li>An updated resume tailored to Australian standards</li>

<li>Any CPD certificates or training records</li>

<li>Police clearance and visa/work rights documents</li>
</ul>

<p>Make sure your resume highlights your OSCE and NCLEX achievements, clinical placements, and any Australian certifications like First Aid or Manual Handling.</p>

<div style="height:50px" aria-hidden="true" class="wp-block-spacer"></div>

<h2 class="wp-block-heading">Present Yourself Professionally</h2>

<p>Dress neatly and appropriately. Arrive early, or log in early if it’s a virtual interview. Speak clearly, maintain eye contact, and be yourself. Australian workplaces value humility, initiative, and a calm, confident presence.</p>

<p>You don’t need to be perfect—just prepared.</p>

<div style="height:50px" aria-hidden="true" class="wp-block-spacer"></div>

<h2 class="wp-block-heading">Ask Thoughtful Questions</h2>

<p>At the end of the interview, you’ll likely be asked if you have any questions. This is your chance to show genuine interest in the role.</p>

<p>You might ask:</p>

<ul class="wp-block-list">
<li>What does orientation look like for new nurses</li>

<li>How does the team support ongoing learning and development</li>

<li>What are the expectations around weekend or night shifts</li>
</ul>

<p>These questions show that you’re thinking ahead and committed to growing in the role.</p>

<hr class="wp-block-separator has-alpha-channel-opacity"/>

<p>Your first nursing job interview in Australia is more than a formality but it’s a moment to reflect on how far you’ve come and where you’re headed next. You’ve already proven your dedication by navigating the registration process. Now it’s time to share your story, your skills, and your heart.</p>

<p>You’re not just applying for a job. You’re stepping into a new chapter of your life and you’re ready.</p>

<hr class="wp-block-separator has-alpha-channel-opacity"/>

<h2 class="wp-block-heading">Ready to be an AuRN</h2>

<p>We’re here to help you figure out the best pathway for your journey if you’re preparing for <strong>OSCE,<br>NCLEX</strong>, or exploring job opportunities. Let’s find the route that fits your goals, your timeline, and your<br>strengths. <p>English proficiency is a key requirement for internationally qualified nurses (IQNMs) seeking registration in Australia or New Zealand. Regulatory bodies such as AHPRA and NCNZ require scores from approved English language tests — most commonly the OET, IELTS, or PTE Academic.</p>

<p>But with multiple options available, how do you choose the exam that best suits your skills and registration goals? Let’s break down the differences.</p>

<div style="height:40px" aria-hidden="true" class="wp-block-spacer"></div>

<h2 class="wp-block-heading">Exam Overview: Format and Focus</h2>

<figure class="wp-block-gallery has-nested-images columns-default is-cropped wp-block-gallery-1 is-layout-flex wp-block-gallery-is-layout-flex">
<figure class="wp-block-image size-large"><img loading="lazy" decoding="async" width="1024" height="536" data-id="13462" src="https://aurnpathway.com.au/wp-content/uploads/2025/07/jul-img1-1024x536.png" alt="" class="wp-image-13462" srcset="https://aurnpathway.com.au/wp-content/uploads/2025/07/jul-img1-1024x536.png 1024w, https://aurnpathway.com.au/wp-content/uploads/2025/07/jul-img1-300x157.png 300w, https://aurnpathway.com.au/wp-content/uploads/2025/07/jul-img1-768x402.png 768w, https://aurnpathway.com.au/wp-content/uploads/2025/07/jul-img1-1536x804.png 1536w, https://aurnpathway.com.au/wp-content/uploads/2025/07/jul-img1-600x314.png 600w, https://aurnpathway.com.au/wp-content/uploads/2025/07/jul-img1.png 1600w" sizes="(max-width: 1024px) 100vw, 1024px" /></figure>
</figure>

<p></p>

<h4 class="wp-block-heading">Key differences:</h4>

<ul class="wp-block-list">
<li><strong>OET</strong> uses real healthcare scenarios (nursing, medicine, etc.), ideal for medical professionals.</li>

<li><strong>IELTS</strong> is broader and widely recognized, with human scoring.</li>

<li><strong>PTE</strong> is fast, flexible, and AI-scored, best for those comfortable with tech-heavy testing.</li>
</ul>

<p></p>

<h4 class="wp-block-heading">Scoring Requirements for Nurses</h4>

<p>Both <strong>AHPRA</strong> and <strong>NCNZ</strong> have strict score thresholds:</p>

<figure class="wp-block-image size-large"><img loading="lazy" decoding="async" width="1024" height="309" src="https://aurnpathway.com.au/wp-content/uploads/2025/07/jul-img2-1024x309.png" alt="" class="wp-image-13463" srcset="https://aurnpathway.com.au/wp-content/uploads/2025/07/jul-img2-1024x309.png 1024w, https://aurnpathway.com.au/wp-content/uploads/2025/07/jul-img2-300x91.png 300w, https://aurnpathway.com.au/wp-content/uploads/2025/07/jul-img2-768x232.png 768w, https://aurnpathway.com.au/wp-content/uploads/2025/07/jul-img2-1536x464.png 1536w, https://aurnpathway.com.au/wp-content/uploads/2025/07/jul-img2-600x181.png 600w, https://aurnpathway.com.au/wp-content/uploads/2025/07/jul-img2.png 1600w" sizes="(max-width: 1024px) 100vw, 1024px" /></figure>

<p>Scores must typically be <strong>achieved in one sitting</strong>, and results must be<strong> recent (usually within two years).</strong> Some regulators allow<strong> two sittings</strong> under specific conditions.</p>

<p></p>

<h4 class="wp-block-heading">Which Exam Matches Your Strengths?</h4>

<ul class="wp-block-list">
<li>Choose <strong>OET</strong> if you’re confident using English in clinical settings and prefer healthcare-related language.</li>

<li>Choose <strong>IELTS</strong> if you’re strong in general academic writing and want broader global recognition.</li>

<li>Choose <strong>PTE</strong> if you prefer a fast, fully computer-based format and are comfortable with typing and automated evaluation.</li>
</ul>

<div style="height:40px" aria-hidden="true" class="wp-block-spacer"></div>

<h2 class="wp-block-heading">Prep Tips for Each Exam</h2>

<figure class="wp-block-image size-large"><img loading="lazy" decoding="async" width="1024" height="536" src="https://aurnpathway.com.au/wp-content/uploads/2025/07/jul-img3-1024x536.png" alt="" class="wp-image-13464" srcset="https://aurnpathway.com.au/wp-content/uploads/2025/07/jul-img3-1024x536.png 1024w, https://aurnpathway.com.au/wp-content/uploads/2025/07/jul-img3-300x157.png 300w, https://aurnpathway.com.au/wp-content/uploads/2025/07/jul-img3-768x402.png 768w, https://aurnpathway.com.au/wp-content/uploads/2025/07/jul-img3-1536x804.png 1536w, https://aurnpathway.com.au/wp-content/uploads/2025/07/jul-img3-600x314.png 600w, https://aurnpathway.com.au/wp-content/uploads/2025/07/jul-img3.png 1600w" sizes="(max-width: 1024px) 100vw, 1024px" /></figure>

<h4 class="wp-block-heading">OET</h4>

<ul class="wp-block-list">
<li>Practice writing nurse referral or discharge letters</li>

<li>Use official OET sample materials tailored to your profession</li>

<li>Focus on patient interaction and structured clinical communication</li>
</ul>

<p></p>

<h4 class="wp-block-heading">IELTS</h4>

<ul class="wp-block-list">
<li>Improve essay writing, especially for the Academic module</li>

<li>Practice under time pressure and work on band-specific strategies</li>

<li>Use official IELTS books and attend mock tests</li>
</ul>

<p></p>

<h4 class="wp-block-heading">PTE Academic</h4>

<ul class="wp-block-list">
<li>Train typing speed and clarity for spoken sections</li>

<li>Use AI-based practice portals to simulate scoring</li>

<li>Focus on pronunciation, intonation, and grammar accuracy</li>
</ul>

<div style="height:40px" aria-hidden="true" class="wp-block-spacer"></div>

<h2 class="wp-block-heading">Which Is More Accepted?</h2>

<p>All three exams are accepted by:</p>

<ul class="wp-block-list">
<li><strong>AHPRA</strong> – for Australian RN registration</li>

<li><strong>NCNZ</strong> – for New Zealand RN registration</li>
</ul>

<p>However, some employers, immigration departments, or training institutions may prefer one exam over another, so it&#8217;s important to check <strong>specific requirements based on your pathway.</strong></p>

<h4 class="wp-block-heading">When choosing your exam, ask yourself:</h4>

<ul class="wp-block-list">
<li>Do I prefer healthcare-specific questions or general academic material?</li>

<li>Am I more comfortable with handwritten essays or computer-based answers?</li>

<li>Is speed or human evaluation more important to me?</li>
</ul>

<p>Ultimately, all three exams can lead to successful registration — the right choice is the one that lets you perform at your best.</p>

<div style="height:40px" aria-hidden="true" class="wp-block-spacer"></div>

<h2 class="wp-block-heading">What’s Next?</h2>

<p>In a heartbeat, your calm can save a life. Whether you&#8217;re preparing for the OSCE, tackling the NCLEX, or walking the floors of an Australian healthcare facility, responding to a Code Blue isn’t just a clinical task—it’s a test of your clarity, courage, and collaboration. This blog is your confidence- building guide to thinking fast, acting smart, and leading with purpose when every second counts.</p>

<div style="height:25px" aria-hidden="true" class="wp-block-spacer"></div>

<h2 class="wp-block-heading">Spotting Trouble Before It Strikes</h2>

<p>Anticipation is everything. Knowing the red flags helps you respond before things spiral:</p>

<ul class="wp-block-list">
<li>Cardiac Arrest: Sudden unresponsiveness, pulselessness, apnea</li>

<li>Anaphylaxis: Swelling (face, airway), rash, respiratory distress, hypotension</li>

<li>Stroke (CVA): FAST—Facial drooping, Arm weakness, Speech slurring, Time-critical emergency</li>
</ul>

<figure class="wp-block-image size-large"><img loading="lazy" decoding="async" width="1024" height="536" src="https://aurnpathway.com.au/wp-content/uploads/2025/06/1-1024x536.png" alt="" class="wp-image-13141" srcset="https://aurnpathway.com.au/wp-content/uploads/2025/06/1-1024x536.png 1024w, https://aurnpathway.com.au/wp-content/uploads/2025/06/1-300x157.png 300w, https://aurnpathway.com.au/wp-content/uploads/2025/06/1-768x402.png 768w, https://aurnpathway.com.au/wp-content/uploads/2025/06/1-1536x804.png 1536w, https://aurnpathway.com.au/wp-content/uploads/2025/06/1-600x314.png 600w, https://aurnpathway.com.au/wp-content/uploads/2025/06/1.png 1600w" sizes="(max-width: 1024px) 100vw, 1024px" /></figure>

<p>When you&#8217;re trained to spot the storm, you&#8217;re halfway to saving the day.</p>

<div style="height:40px" aria-hidden="true" class="wp-block-spacer"></div>

<h2 class="wp-block-heading">Staying Grounded in the Chaos</h2>

<p>Code situations unleash adrenaline—and that’s normal. Here’s how to ride the wave:</p>

<ul class="wp-block-list">
<li>Box Breathing: Inhale for 4 seconds, hold for 4, exhale for 4, hold again—repeat</li>

<li>Mental Anchors: Remind yourself, “I’ve trained for this.”</li>

<li>Micro-Actions: CPR first. Call a code. Secure oxygen. Just focus on the next right step.</li>
</ul>

<p>In both OSCE scenarios and real life, calm isn’t luck—it’s a practiced response.</p>

<div style="height:40px" aria-hidden="true" class="wp-block-spacer"></div>

<h2 class="wp-block-heading">Code Roles: Who Does What in the Heat of It All</h2>

<p>Being effective means knowing where to stand—and what to do</p>

<figure class="wp-block-image size-large"><img loading="lazy" decoding="async" width="1024" height="544" src="https://aurnpathway.com.au/wp-content/uploads/2025/06/2-1024x544.png" alt="" class="wp-image-13142" srcset="https://aurnpathway.com.au/wp-content/uploads/2025/06/2-1024x544.png 1024w, https://aurnpathway.com.au/wp-content/uploads/2025/06/2-300x159.png 300w, https://aurnpathway.com.au/wp-content/uploads/2025/06/2-768x408.png 768w, https://aurnpathway.com.au/wp-content/uploads/2025/06/2-1536x816.png 1536w, https://aurnpathway.com.au/wp-content/uploads/2025/06/2-600x319.png 600w, https://aurnpathway.com.au/wp-content/uploads/2025/06/2.png 1600w" sizes="(max-width: 1024px) 100vw, 1024px" /></figure>

<p><strong>OSCE tip: </strong>Deliver your SBAR handoff clearly and calmly. It’s a competency marker for critical communication.</p>

<div style="height:40px" aria-hidden="true" class="wp-block-spacer"></div>

<h2 class="wp-block-heading">Post-Code Practice: What Happens After the Beep</h2>

<p>Emergencies don’t end with return of spontaneous circulation (ROSC). Here’s what comes next:</p>

<ul class="wp-block-list">
<li>Reassess Continuously: Vitals, LOC, oxygenation</li>

<li>Support the Family: Provide honest, kind updates</li>

<li>Reflect as a Team: What worked? What didn’t? What will you do better next time?</li>

<li>Document Meticulously: Every action, minute, medication, and rhythm change</li>
</ul>

<figure class="wp-block-image size-large"><img loading="lazy" decoding="async" width="1024" height="536" src="https://aurnpathway.com.au/wp-content/uploads/2025/06/3-1024x536.png" alt="" class="wp-image-13143" srcset="https://aurnpathway.com.au/wp-content/uploads/2025/06/3-1024x536.png 1024w, https://aurnpathway.com.au/wp-content/uploads/2025/06/3-300x157.png 300w, https://aurnpathway.com.au/wp-content/uploads/2025/06/3-768x402.png 768w, https://aurnpathway.com.au/wp-content/uploads/2025/06/3-1536x804.png 1536w, https://aurnpathway.com.au/wp-content/uploads/2025/06/3-600x314.png 600w, https://aurnpathway.com.au/wp-content/uploads/2025/06/3.png 1600w" sizes="(max-width: 1024px) 100vw, 1024px" /></figure>

<p>Mastering post-resus care is how good nurses become great ones.</p>

<div style="height:40px" aria-hidden="true" class="wp-block-spacer"></div>

<h2 class="wp-block-heading">Final Pulse Check: Confidence is Clinical</h2>

<p>Emergencies are a test of readiness, not perfection. With frequent scenario practice, honest reflection, and team coordination, you won&#8217;t just react—you’ll respond with control and care. Because staying calm isn’t just a mindset. It’s a lifesaving skill.</p>

<div style="height:40px" aria-hidden="true" class="wp-block-spacer"></div>

<p>In the recently concluded Objective Structured Clinical Examination (OSCE), AuRNPathway’s performance continues to keep soaring making it one of the top-performing nursing review centers in Australia.</p>

<figure class="wp-block-image is-resized"><img loading="lazy" decoding="async" src="https://lh3.googleusercontent.com/2-axVeL9apjmpfRx9TXqYtEZMd0XbNFoYKkTO-w0AEI1GChz_9YMMcbKVvcjUGMRkYUH8w2yBM4azRleCBnRMoU3KGzi83WB4TSnqDY9imrJLfgl9MM03AxIecYspiEpY8P0S4KUXGrKQHqUeAVS9vIO8XvxKwFw9FI3X7QSDh_Qkz_QZxZta2PArdxQHA" alt="Rising number of Passers of AuRNPathway" width="840" height="840"/></figure>

<p>In a span of less than a year, AuRNPathway was able to double its enrollees and spiked its number of passers. This simply entails the growing trust of nursing aspirants and the effectiveness of the material developed by AuRNPathway. Super headed by its Lead Nurse Educator, Ms. Kristine Dawang keeps raising the bar high for all nursing review centers in Australia.&nbsp;</p>

<p>Recently, the pandemic has challenged AuRNPathway on ways to deliver lessons with distance being in the way. Despite the challenges, AuRNPathway took a major leap in extending its review through distance education. By far, the quality of the program and the unwavering assistance of nurse educators reaped the fruit through continuous positive results. </p>

<figure class="wp-block-image"><img decoding="async" src="https://lh5.googleusercontent.com/I0WLPc9u2QVUFparbk_QFmEvhc4gMXfSpH9tnTLgKRmEhQs7DStQNhZy4fiweY5RBV1IdSGB_QfjpkxQd8WyIfXrXugf2AZaQyo-JouTlz4LHHmGkIRb7UXEZkKKe505cKaTN2ZTSyiZ59QGkHDtiDuoVAasXEj-WMV-5qfBWiztp4TPP3DNG9ZcPeMA5g" alt="Online Review of AuRNPathway OSCE Review that guarantees High Passing Rate"/></figure>

<p>AuRNPathway not only helped nursing aspirants in Australia but also aspirants all the way from overseas. The assistance starts once the student enrolls in AuRNPathway until achieving the AuRN dream. To date, AuRNPathway has produced registered nurses currently working in Australia. </p>

<h2 class="wp-block-heading">Meet Our Passers</h2>

<p>Among the registered nurses is Leevan Elixer Lenon.&nbsp;</p>

<p>In the face of challenge, as he started his journey, he found his path in AuRNPathway. He is one of the products of the special ONLINE review conducted under the onset of the pandemic making AuRNPathway the ONLY nursing review center in Australia with passer through ONLINE review. We are twice as happy as he is that finally, he is now living his dream.</p>

<blockquote class="wp-block-quote is-layout-flow wp-block-quote-is-layout-flow">
<figure class="wp-block-image size-full"><img loading="lazy" decoding="async" width="828" height="465" src="https://aurnpathway.com.au/wp-content/uploads/2022/11/OCT19.png" alt="Highest Passing Rate Testimonial" class="wp-image-3315" srcset="https://aurnpathway.com.au/wp-content/uploads/2022/11/OCT19.png 828w, https://aurnpathway.com.au/wp-content/uploads/2022/11/OCT19-600x337.png 600w, https://aurnpathway.com.au/wp-content/uploads/2022/11/OCT19-300x168.png 300w, https://aurnpathway.com.au/wp-content/uploads/2022/11/OCT19-768x431.png 768w" sizes="(max-width: 828px) 100vw, 828px" /></figure>

<p><em>“I was lost and overwhelmed with OSCE, not really knowing where and how to start but Kristine and AuRNpathway boosted my confidence and helped me through my journey.&nbsp;</em></p>

<p><em>Kristine had been so responsive with all my questions and queries. I even remember heaps of late night occasions wherein I messaged her to ask some silly questions that popped into my head about the procedures and she managed to answer me back.&nbsp;</em></p>

<p><em>Due to recent lockdowns, I wasn&#8217;t able to fly to Sydney or Melbourne to perform the skills simulation, however she still managed to arrange an one on one virtual coaching that helped me gain enough courage and knowledge to conquer OSCE. Big thanks and kudos to Kristine and AuRNPathway . I will be forever grateful to be part of the AuRNPathway family.”</em></p>
</blockquote>

<p>Another OSCE passer from AuRNPathway through the ONLINE review is Kristina Pamplona. She is an overseas qualified nurse who enrolled in AuRNPathway in the hope of becoming a Registered Nurse in Australia. With her perseverance and determination, she achieved her dream of finally becoming an AuRN. </p>

<figure class="wp-block-image size-full"><img loading="lazy" decoding="async" width="828" height="465" src="https://aurnpathway.com.au/wp-content/uploads/2022/11/NOV10-2.png" alt="Highest Passing Rate Testimonial" class="wp-image-3316" srcset="https://aurnpathway.com.au/wp-content/uploads/2022/11/NOV10-2.png 828w, https://aurnpathway.com.au/wp-content/uploads/2022/11/NOV10-2-600x337.png 600w, https://aurnpathway.com.au/wp-content/uploads/2022/11/NOV10-2-300x168.png 300w, https://aurnpathway.com.au/wp-content/uploads/2022/11/NOV10-2-768x431.png 768w" sizes="(max-width: 828px) 100vw, 828px" /></figure>

<blockquote class="wp-block-quote is-layout-flow wp-block-quote-is-layout-flow">
<p><em>“Hi Kristine! I can not thank you enough for your enormous help before, during, and even after OSCE. Even though I only did online reviews, I never felt like I was missing out because you made sure I had all the support that I needed to pass the OSCE. You really went above and beyond not just for me, but for all of us. I wouldn’t have done it without you and AuRNPathway. Hope to see you in Adelaide soon!”</em></p>
</blockquote>

<p>At first, an online review can be overwhelming and might pose a struggle for some because of fear that they might miss out on something from the material. Thus, constant reinforcement and assistance by AuRNPathway’s nurse educators crosscheck the potentially overlooked pointers necessary for passing the OSCE. Often, the chance to be autonomous in the pacing of reviewing overwhelms nursing aspirants which leads to overseeing major information.</p>

<p>So much for the online-produced passers, here is another OSCE passer from AuRNPathway.</p>

<p>Theresa Sotto started her journey in AuRNPathway during its early days. She highlights in her journey the challenge of being an offshore student and the pressure it adds to the path. Yet, being with AuRNPathway, the feeling of belonging and the welcoming spirit as a family eased her journey.</p>

<p>That is to say that AuRNPathway cares. </p>

<figure class="wp-block-image size-full"><img loading="lazy" decoding="async" width="828" height="465" src="https://aurnpathway.com.au/wp-content/uploads/2022/11/NOV10.png" alt="Highest Passing Rate Testimonial" class="wp-image-3317" srcset="https://aurnpathway.com.au/wp-content/uploads/2022/11/NOV10.png 828w, https://aurnpathway.com.au/wp-content/uploads/2022/11/NOV10-600x337.png 600w, https://aurnpathway.com.au/wp-content/uploads/2022/11/NOV10-300x168.png 300w, https://aurnpathway.com.au/wp-content/uploads/2022/11/NOV10-768x431.png 768w" sizes="(max-width: 828px) 100vw, 828px" /></figure>

<blockquote class="wp-block-quote is-layout-flow wp-block-quote-is-layout-flow">
<p><em>“Words will never be enough to express my gratitude to you and your company for helping me get through my OSCE journey. I was anxious with a lot of stuff when I started my review, added to the fact that I was an offshore student from the Philippines, which makes things even more challenging.</em></p>

<p><em>Thank you so much for patiently assisting me with all of my needs and for guiding me through the end to end process of my application. You are very accommodating in answering all of my questions as well as in sharing your knowledge with me.</em></p>

<p><em>You simplify the complex topics and discuss it in a straightforward manner which makes it easier for us, your overseas students, to grasp the learnings right away.&nbsp;</em></p>

<p><em>Thank you for your never-ending support to nurses like us with big dreams in Australia. I am definitely beyond grateful in choosing AuRNPathway and will surely recommend this to all future nurses out there who are dreaming to be Australian RNs.”</em></p>
</blockquote>

<p>The students&#8217; milestones are also AuRNPathway’s. When they achieve their dream, AuRNPathway serves the purpose it intends.</p>

<h2 class="wp-block-heading">Humble Beginnings of AuRNPathway</h2>

<p>AuRNPathway’s solid foundation is heavily rooted in its Lead Nurse Educator’s desire to help Overseas Qualified Registered Nurses conquer their transitional fears and realize their dream to practice as Registered Nurses in Australia.</p>

<p>As Nurse Educators in AuRNPathway have extensive experience in Australia in different fields of Nursing, their passion and goal are to provide Aspiring Nurses with learning that can help them pass the Objective Structured Clinical Exam (OSCE) and get started on their road to Nursing in Australia. The development of concise and time-efficient material is a combined effort of all the eligible and highly-qualified nurse educators practicing nursing in established medical industries in Australia.</p>

<p>Looking at the journey of AuRNPathway, it has continued with the reason why it was founded. With consistency, it aims to help more nursing aspirants and boost their morale which has fluctuated along the tedious journey. </p>

<h2 class="wp-block-heading">Be Our Next OSCE Passer and AuRN&nbsp;</h2>

<p>Have you always known that you wanted to work with people and change their lives by becoming a nurse? Are you currently employed in a completely unrelated industry but considering changing to the nursing field? Are you looking for the best path to help you achieve this dream?&nbsp;</p>

<p>Nursing can be one of the toughest professions &#8211; certainly, it is not for everyone. Everyone might have the heart to care but only a few have the commitment to care for everyone until the end. Before nurses achieve their dreams of practicing the profession, they undergo a lot of hurdles and obstacles that test their faith in obtaining the license of their passion. The process of becoming a nurse can be the most challenging, but finally becoming one is the most satisfying.</p>

<p>Ms. Kristine Dawang, AuRNPathway’s Lead Nurse Educator, takes pride as AuRNPathway students ace the OSCE on a streak!</p>

<p>Among all nursing review centers in Australia, <a href="http://www.aurnpathway.com.au" target="_blank" rel="noreferrer noopener">AuRNPathway</a> maintains its standing of having the highest passing rate despite being a neophyte in its field. Its global nurse educators, with seasoned experience in the field of nursing, continue to share their wisdom to the nursing aspirants as they go along the journey to becoming a nurse in Australia.</p>

<p>In the recent Objective Structured Clinical Exam, all AuRNPathway takers made it all the way through. With the help of the AuRNPathway course, students are geared up to pass the OSCE.  Ten area-specific modules accessible by the students wherever they are and whenever they want have generally helped students be guided on what to focus on in preparation of the OSCE supplemented by three-day face-to-face training.</p>

<figure class="wp-block-image"><img decoding="async" src="https://lh6.googleusercontent.com/Xal5DIzLqyYlf3CsbvUe1NZzCq5GL4Ks6BGe47rrGDBzsMRBHsFOfyUYsUoMiVhaDyz1bKgnTGOLaMYqkuZGi_y3rJb_KJwSHVBfIUhMtwRtkpsNccJ_UXSeK9OBfQqMzNwpbUnu7lTUVwOoLA" alt="Nursing Aspirant on taking Objective Structured Clinical Examination" /></figure>

<p>     “<em>As these nursing aspirants pass the OSCE, I feel twice their joy because I have been there. The road isn’t easy. I have also experienced the challenges which motivated me to keep moving forward. With immense joy, I congratulate the students who&#8217;ve become a family to me</em>”, Ms. Dawang commented on the recent OSCE result. </p>

<p>Ms. Dawang has been a Registered Nurse for more than 10 years in Australia and overseas, with more than 5 years of experience facilitating and teaching Nurses in Australia. She has also been part of OSCE Curriculum in one of the colleges in Australia and has been preparing and assessing Nursing Students for their OSCE on a regular basis in one of the well-known colleges in Australia. Her experience and passion made it possible for her to establish AuRN Pathway.</p>
